The Courier News notes that a light turnout is expected for tomorrow's primary elections. Plainfield Democrats who would like to have a change at the Council level should get out and vote. Those who don't give a damn, please stay at home.
Why should we wish to change the Council's rubber stamp mode. My grandfather who lived in New York City always voted the "Tammny Hall Democrat's" line. When asked why, he replied "We know how much these crooks steal. We have no idea what the others will take." That commentary reflected NYC politics. We have little factual reason to even think that such shenanigans occur in Plainfield. But the rubber stamping awarding of contracts without requiring bidding suggests that " Pay to Play" works well in Plainfield. Look up the local political contributions of the engineering firm which is awarded all uncontested contracts.
The latest on Muhlenberg. The article on page one ,"Vision", is encouraging. Despite the Solaris claims, there may be legitimate "buyers" out there. While the "Lynch proposal" seems similar to Piscatelli's plans, there are essential differences. The most important one, is the continued operation of a full service 150 bed acute care hospital. The other is centralizing in new structures a broad spectrum of professional offices. Other differences are in the emphasis on the conversion use of the remainder hospital structure.
