Tuesday night May 20 the Plainfield oops OZ Council will
commit an act of political assassination to reaffirm their affiliation and debt
to political boss Assemblyman Green; Chairman of both the City and the County
Democrat Committees.
That their action can only be detrimental to the community
they pledged to serve “to the best of their ability” is of no importance to
them. Green’s publicly expressed enmity toward Mapp is the motivating factor.
The consultant** as indicated in their report was hired to give
“legitimacy” to their plan to make the Mayor ineffective.
The Group of Four will amend the budget to cut every forward
going appointment Mapp has made or intends to make in an effort to reform
Plainfield’s patronage based fiscally loose government of the past eight years.
It only takes a simple majority to reduce a line item; not
the 2/3rds needed to increase a line item.
A concerned public will have three chances to express their
dissatisfaction with the Council’s negativism; the Tuesday when the amendments
are considered, next Tuesday when the four will vote to accept the budget, and
the Tuesday after that at the polls.
The last action, a repudiation of the Green machine will be too late to save Plainfield this year but could lay the foundatiom for a new vibrant community.

** Consultant: someone or a group supposedly expert who you employ to come up with the recommendations that you had already decided on.
Being a new resident and observing the goings on via tv. I have some questions that you maybe able to answer.
ReplyDeleteIs the former mayor accurate with her accusations that state that Mayor Mapp crippled her office financially while she was in office?
Do you know the names of any plainfield residents that have been hired under the Mapp administration?
How much money has the Mapp administration spent since taking office?
