Just when I thought a brief potpourri blog with mention that
the agenda for the Council meeting was made for an almost routine non-contentious
meeting consisting of 18 consent resolutions and 12 non-consent of which 4 are new; 3 dealing with the 4th of
July celebration.
Yes there is a discussion item that may or may not merit
some objections especially from the public; Habitat for Humanity wants to close
part of far out West 3rd St for a week to build a house.
The when I turned on
my computer at 8pm to check my e-mail
there was a blockbuster a press release from administration; PLAINFIELD HIRES NEW HEALTH OFFICER !
Who? Why of course Denise L. Proctor the wife of Rahway’s
embattled Mayor, whose waiver of residency request had been turned down by the
Council at the Agenda fixing session.
I had reported in # 1
MONDAY'S \MEETINGS and FU #1
MONDAY'S MEETING in some depth about that incident and there has been many mostly
negative but unsubstantiated comments about this person. As I have written, the
only true question is the appointee qualified and has no black marks on
his/hers record. There need be honesty on all sides not anonymous or innuendo
charges.
Mayor Mapp last week announced that he was not going to
allow adverse political considerations to prevent him from appointing a qualified
person. He himself was fired from a CFO type position in Roselle as the result
of a political faction battle.
The battle lines may be drawn. The City needs urgently a full time Health Officer.
