Dan you are only partially right; my teeth are not only on an edge but also my bowels are in an uproar.  How could anyone remain complacent over such a blatant abuse of public authority and trust is incomprehensible

Perhaps we should not be disturbed since this is an era of an amoral cynical society. To paraphrase Dickens it can be the best of times, or it can be the worst of times.

An avalanche of sexual harassment stories have not spared politicians from both parties, as well as highly regarded respected public figures. How many are shaking in their boots?

The Prime Minister of Great Britain for repeating as facts three unverified anti-Muslim tweets posted by an extremist English faction.

And the GOP is ready to pass a tax bill that will benefit the rich and will ultimately be costly to those earning less than $100,000.00 those earning a year. More on this to follow.

In the meantime the ACC is creaming the Big 10 by 9:1 with 3 games to go.

SAD SAD

Morpheus seems to have control of much of my day time. Additional there seems to be an overall public distancing from interest in governmental affairs. That has resulted in little incentive to write a daily blog

  But, we received a disturbing email Tuesday pm from the City Clerk.

 Once again our “hard working” public “servants” aka The Plainfield Common Council have shown their true interest by cutting their workload in half and will plan to pass  on Dec. 11  at a joint Agenda Fixing session and Business Meeting an  additional 150% increase in their compensation.

  Have we ever been informed about an honest verified number of hours each Councilor devotes each year to his/hers civic office? Will we ever be? No!

  At the same meeting our hard working mayor  who has a  6 figure full time position in another community and who has an administrative bureaucracy  that should be able to do all the nitty gritty of administration in  the city will be voted  a 75 % increase in his compensation. That will be to a level close to the median income of all Americans.

   Of course figuring a normal 5 day 8 hour work week that would mean that he works 16 hours a day.

  The reality is that in today’s society we no longer have a democracy with a government of the people for the people. Instead at all levels; national, state, county, and local there is an Oligarchy devoted to its own self interests. The only difference from Putin’s  Russia is that we have two parties fighting for the same spoils.

   Until the “what is in it for me” cynicism of today’s  society is replaced by a sincere interest in what is best for all the people we are going to continue down a road of national disaster.

   I had hope along these lines to comment on the pending tax reforms as well as the state of health care and will do so if there is any interest individuals beside myself  That too will depend on evidence of interest through individual comments.pro or con. and preferably not anonymous.
