A blog on a weekend is an exercise in futility. However,
I must take advantage of what time I have between appointments, fatigue due to physical
impairments, and simple laziness to post a few random disconnected thoughts.
Yippee; after 150 years we are going to have an official
city flag, one with colors that are meaningful to the Mayor. Yes, another milestone
in Plainfield’s revitalization. Meanwhile our taxes go up as we lose another national
store and a thriving restaurant row will be destroyed.
In DC as the wake of the Barr rendition of the Mueller
Report continues the White House and POTUS continue to obfuscate and the
Democrats talk of impeachment.
This is at best unadvisable since Pence would become
President if successful but fortunately unlikely to take place. Impeachment, a
House right, only becomes a “act” after Senate approval.
Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton are the only two PONTUS
who were impeached but both were acquitted by the Senate and remained in
office. Nixon resigned before the House could act since he had an unfavorable
Senate which would uphold the impingement.
FYI; the Constitution:
“At the federal
level, Article
I, Section 2, Clause 5 of the Constitution
grants to the House of Representatives "the sole power of
impeachment", and Article
I, Section 3, Clause 6 grants to the Senate "the sole Power to
try all Impeachments". In considering articles of impeachment, the House
is obligated to base any charges on the constitutional standards specified in Article
II, Section 4: "The President,
Vice
President, and all civil Officers of the United States shall be
removed from Office on Impeachment for, and conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes
and Misdemeanors.”
