JUST CARTOONS

Rather than spend the last day of the month writing about Trump and Giuliani’s statement that Trump had not attended a planning meeting two days before the infamous Tower meeting since  that meeting never happened. In other words Trump did not attend a meeting that never took place. Why even mention such a meeting?
Instead a few July 31 cartoons that happen to relate to that subject:

As to the Polls, It was the Literary Digest that first conducted a printed polling but was so wrong in the Dewey/Truman election that the magazine folded. There were no "polls" in Lincoln's day

POTPOURRI TRUMP

Guiliami is right; "Collusion" is not a crime. However, any action with a foreign nation or its representatives to impact on an election is criminal. Donald Trump Jr. may have done that with his meeting with the Russian agent to get material on Hillary Clinton and if found guilty may go to jail.

That POTUS knew about that meeting before hand does not mean that he “colluded” nor by itself is grounds for impeachment. But as with Nixon-who resigned before he was impeached, lies and acts of obstruction of an investigation could be grounds.

Despite the announcement that North Korea was tearing down a missile test site, today it was revealed that they were testing a new missile. Also this week after Trump under pressure cancelled Putin’s White House visit it was rumored that Putin was going to invite Trump to a meeting in Moscow to be held after the fall elections.

Trump is threatening not to sign any September finance bill thus shutting down most government activities if he does not get enough money to build his wall. Is this a form of blackmail? August is time for Senators and Representatives to go on vacation so that bill will have to wait until the end of that month.

A BLOG AT LAST

New computer is up and running but still having technical troubles with various programs which affect posting blogs. A major problem is opening new version of Quicken and the new company is of no help. This is an important record keeping program and cannot recoup or open old files.

This week locally, state wise, and nationally has been marked by politicians in office ignoring prevailing laws to further their own interests. The proposed changes in the City Charter is a prime example involving the Legislature, the City Council, and the Mayor. Nationally POTUS has excluded specific reporters from press conferences if he felt they would ask unfavorable questions.

Once again the Senate is involved in partisan politics delaying the confirmation of a new SCOTUS justice instead of focusing on qualifications. Both Administration and Congress ignore the fact that SCOTUS’s function is ti determine legality not write or change laws.

Did you know that there is no law or Constitutional requirement that there be 9 Justices? In fact for years there were just 7. FDR tried to pack the court for his own political purposes but failed because of Congressional pressure. That would not prevent Democrats or Republicans from trying again.

The cartoonists have been having a field day as well as the late night talk shows. A few cartoons  not anti-Trump:
