RANDOM THOUGHTS NOV 10

I hope you have read Councilman Storch's post election comments yesterday. June 2009 is far away and I am sure that there will be a great deal of party infighting. Those who let the fight for change on the national level know that change is a local issue. The "negativiers"(new word) will be sure to audit the various developments.

However, it is up to the sitting elected officials to come up with a rational budget for the present fiscal year. For any lame ducks or potential lame ducks to sit back and pass the buck to the incoming Council is reprehensible. On Jan 1, 2009 half the monies for this present fiscal year will have already been expended without provisions for raising funds. That folks is taxes and already a greater than cost of living raise was proposed before the economic collapse. The Board of education whose budget is separate but is included in our tax base must also take an other look at its expenditures and personnel. The third element of our tax base comes from the county, the Freeholders also must exert restraint.

Nationally, I hope that instead of indiscriminate allocated billions of dollars that the new administration would revive FDR's PWA, WPA, and CCC programs. They created employment and also benefited the inner structure.

9:45AM; Sadly I just read yesterday's Plaintalker-must have been a late post. That the PMUA should schedule a public hearing at 6 PM the same night of the Council meeting is disturbing. Not only does the hour interfere with most family's regular dinner time, but for those who attend the Council meetings they will either have to eat very early or go hungry. Neither is in the best interests of those who have medical problems. Of course the PMUA people do no attend the Council meetings. Is it a lack of consideration or deliberate intent to discourage participation?
