Councilor Storch proposed a new Resolution to be added to the agenda at the end of the scheduled business. This Resolution addressed through 5 resolves the issues resulting from last weeks 'Scarlet Letter'. The exact resolves will have to wait until I can read a copy since my doctor's handwriting does not lead to legible copy. I would hope that Councilor Storch would post it on his blog site.
Suffice to say,one resolve called for a "stat" report from the Mayor as to an update to her promised immediate "Internal Investigation" (4/4/11 Council meeting).
Her honor noted that she condemned all material of that nature, and that after her last Wednesday's "Cabinet Meeting" she had turned the Investigation over to the Corporation Counsel . In the mean time the mail boxes had been moved into another office where improper access would be difficult.
Corporation Council Williamson noted that as the investigation "plodded along" the identity of the individuals responsible might be revealed. In line with the atmosphere of urgency that emanated from the Administrative offices, Counsel Williamson remarked that he had contacted the representatives of the manufactures of the copiers and printers in City Hall , and he hope that they would be able to examine the Machine's hard drives or other storage as early as this coming week- not this week.
Two weeks will have passed and the reproducible evidence that Municipal property was used may well have been destroyed by then. One wonders why the administration seems to be paying lip service and dragging its feet. Could it be that the most easily accessible copier is in the Recreation Division's offices? Is there a list of who may use that machine?
This is more than an insignificant issue, no matter how some try to dismiss it. To let it go as minor and not worth an effort is symptomatic of what is wrong in Plainfield.
When mentioning the "Mayor's Cabinet" should not the public be informed on the progress of a search for a City Administrator and a Director of Public Works is progressing. o will we be having once again a lack-a-dai-si-cal search for Director of Administration and Financed etc or for the CFO.
