VALUABLE RESPONSIBLE INFORMATION

Nowadays there are at least two ways to disseminate information, (1)electronically includes Internet email and Blogs, phones including twitter, and faxes. or (2) the falling out of fashion non GREEN use of newsprint.

During the past weeks our three news papers, The New York Times, The Star Ledger, And the Mark Spivey Press aka Courier News have been great sources of fact and some slanted opinion in their letters and OP-ED pages.

Every day the Times has a full page in its first section devoted to the current action on the Health Care Reform. It is a must read if you have a valid concern. For those who read the electronic edition they will note that it is abridged.

The Star Ledger despite its perhaps justified Cristie baiting is in the process from Sunday in printing a side by side series " The Candidates on the Issues" Sunday dealt with Health Care and again should be a must read. Tuesday was on the Economy. Also for the perceptive voter a , read. You may want to change your mind after the end of the series. But do remember , this type synopsis can be slanted.

The Courier on its editorial page just finished printing 20 ways to reform New Jersey's fiscal problems. If the politicians in Trenton would be sincere and adopt even half of them it would be a miracle. Ideally we should wipe the slate clean of those who are there and replace with "statesman" who are truly interested in public welfare. Unfortunately too often a change has only resulted in a new group of vultures.

The newer media is the Internet and the use of official sites plus the Bloggers. There are several classes of bloggers, those you should read and contemplate their postings, those that you will read but hide behind Anonymity or an untraceable Nome de Post. Those you should judge by the tone of their writings. Always question the validity of facts written by someone who refuses to make his/her identity known. They can slander, libel , distort and present falsehoods as facts that the receptive person will take as truth. I know of at least one in this group who posts periodically.

If as reported Mayor Robbinson-Briggs yesterday told the Seniors that the "Plainfield Bloggers"are guilty of lies about her and the Plainfield politics, I take extreme umbrage if she is referring to this blog writer. I demand that she identify verbatim and source by date of any blog I have posted that contained a deliberate falsehood. If she can not I will accept a public apology at the Council Meeting.

Since the "Plainfield Bloggers" consisting of Dan Damon as Plainfield Today, Bernice Paglia as Plainfield Plaintalker, Maria Pellum as Maria's Blog, myself, plus the political candidates Jerry Green, Jim Pivnichy, BoVastine are the only ones that write and accept authorship for their materiel about Plainfield matters perhaps the Mayor could further identify the specifics she referred too, otherwise if she has misspoken she should retract those words.

I am going to address latter today other issues that were reported in the papers or in the blogs the last two days. At least two represent a challenge by authority to our constitutional rights and raise fears of a tendency for a "police state" mentality.

  1. Doc, I don't understand how this administration can think that they are putting the people first. The mayor continues to politicize the police, and Hellwig says he's not surprised by the rudeness of his officers, but does nothing about it. The mayor kicks citizens and members out of a senior center meeting and blithely goes about her business, and she and Jerry Green allow, even encourage political contributors to come and raid Plainfield.

Lost in the shuffle is the fact that several employees at Muhlenberg's satellite just lost their jobs. The mayor acts sad, but does nothing. Jerry Green does nothing. I am truly sad for our city. I voted for change, and I desperately need change. I can't afford to move. Our children should see a role model in the mayor as an African American success story, but she is not something to be proud of. The city council needs to hold her accountable for the administration's failure to reign in their employees, starting with Hellwig and the police. They have the right to question Hellwig about how the police behave.

  3. It's time those in power in Plainfield step aside. The tide is changing and Plainfield will be a MUCH better place without them. Good riddance to the current administration, PMUA, and the three town council members.
