March Madness in full swing. Twelve hours of good NCAA basketball games yesterday and a repeat today. The usual spring Palm Sunday/Easter heavy snow storm is scheduled for this weekend. The Republicans are acting as if they have no idea which end is up. The Democrats are going to nominate a tainted Hillary whose believes that she is above the law and who will be the next President because the Republican grass roots have settled on a dangerous con artist.

Yes once again the DC politicians have painted themselves into a corner. At least the Republicans have with their stand on not even considering filling the vacant SCOTUS seat.

Again Obama has created a political coup in the nomination of a highly respected by both parties judicial moderate, Merrick Garland, to fill the vacant seat. Garland had had unanimous bi-partisan support when appointed to the Appeals court.

The Republicans are now caught between a rock and a hard place. To not hold hearings will jeopardize the reelection of Republican Senators in swing states and will insure that with a Trump Candidacy the GOP will lose its control of the Senate and likely the House.

To hold hearings is to lose face and no politician can stand that. Or make an 1805 change in position during the public’s short memory period.

There will be some sort of hearing probably of the Borg type with ultimately rejection of the President’s nominee. Then to do the conservatives dismay Hillary will pick a liberal.

  1. The saddest part of the SCOTUS deal is that Scalia was a constitutionalist and would have stood up for Obama's right to have nominations heard, even if he didn't like it. Too many Republican politicans are not that mature and should have seen where their rhetoric about not considering any Obama nomination would have gone. They deserve to be in this situation and I hope it bites them hard you know where.
