At least the air conditioner waited until it was not too uncomfortable before dying. That has nothing to do with the Republicans who would be President. However just as I had hope to go through this summer without having to replace the air conditioner, I had hoped that there would be a simpler list of Republicans to classify and set my sights on a winner

A Monmouth University poll out Tuesday finds Donald Trump leading among South Carolina Republicans with 30% support, followed by retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 15%. No other candidates register in double digits.

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, who has sparred repeatedly with Trump in recent weeks, is well behind at 4%.

Trump’s lead in that regional poll is illustrative of his lead in various polls. In South Carolina he received only 30% of the pool’s vote. Add Carson’s 15% and that still leaves more than half -55% that when redistributed will make the polling significant.

I would write off Gilmore, Graham, Pataki, Huckabee, Perry and Jindal as non-entities in the overall race. I think that far right Santorum may make a big splash in Iowa but not national wide. Rand Paul has his pack of disciples but nationally will have only a little overall spurt because of his Libertarian bent.

That leaves 9 including Christie who still could enter the Convention as one of the final three. Christie is a long shot and has to do well in New Hampshire and Iowa. He need not win but must garner a fair amount of “votes”.in those two states. He will only have a chance as a viable candidate when the numbers drop

Of the two non-politicians left, Carson and Fiorina their not being members of the old boys’ club will destroy them. We do not need amateurs in the nation’s highest office.

The rest of the Republicans are to follow.
