THAT COUNCIL MEETING.

It is  12:11 am Valentine's Day (Feb.14) as I write this  short note. Despite the fact that the PCTV schedule still is for Feb. 6-Feb12. I took a flyer and  checked the station at 7:05 pm. and there was the tape of Monday night's meeting. The Agenda Fixing Session ended at about 10:30 with Council President Rivers giving Mayor Mapp Hell for disrespecting her  and threatening to have the police remove him from the room.

Her tirade was about the limited audit Administration was doing without the Council's approval. Considering former Mayor Robinson-Briggs  extra-long prepared remarks attacking Mapp as well as defending her administration, and Rivers fixation that there should be no "forensic audit" unless it went back 20 years (beyond any statue of limitations) it would seem that perhaps "where there is smoke there is fire."

Once again I marvel at Tolliver and Taylor's insistence that any fraud in the past is in the past and we should go "forward."  I would think that misappropriation of public funds or embezzlement would be criminal and it would be the fiduciary duty of both Administration and Council to discover any such action and take corrective action.

Enjoy Valentines Day, the snow and the coldest day of the year Sunday.

By the way Monday Feb. 16 is now known  "President's Day",but that but that name for the day was never legally adopted. Since Washington's Birthday -Feb. 22 was a Federal Holiday and Lincoln's Birthday -Feb. 12 was not celebrated in many  Southern States Congress passed a law years ago making the third Monday of February officially 'Washington's Birthday". The name  of the holiday has never been changed .

  1. There are some people on the City Council who at least appear to be complicite in some of the perhaps illegal fiscal dealing that the previous administration has committed. Rivers has no standing and as I speak to people in her ward she is often reviled. This will probably be her last time on the council as people in her ward and Vera Greaves ward are waking up and begging for someone who will represent them and not powers in the Democratic party. Hopefully, the state or feds will investigate the dealings in the past ten years, including the current administration and put those in jail who deserve it. I'll come to wish them good riddence as they are hauled off in hand cuffs.

  2. I hope that Bridget Rivers gets her dues. She was and remains to be embroiled Green/Briggs administration. You are correct in stating that folks I her ward and that of Vera are disenchanted with their behavior. Taylor is just plain stupid. She and her husband is where the major corruption began. She drove around town in a city car and made no bones about it. She has been delinquent on her PMUA bill. Perhaps if she did not wear so many animals on her back she could afford to pay her fair share but she is now in the "entitled status" like Greaves, Rivers Toliver and Brown.

  3. @Bob - I am a Democrat, however -I will not drop a bead of sweat when it comes to voting for a local Republican when the Democratic candidate does not fit the moving forward of this great city Plainfield. I have voted for Jim Pivnichny(sp?), Beau Bastien and John Campbell. The City of Plainfield's taxpaying voters need to VOTE SMART not THE LINE.

Master Puppeteer Ass. Jerry Green has created a comedy of aof councilpersons by giving well strung puppets Umm Who is Robert Rule -Bridget Rivers, Running Mouth -William Reid, Umm Which Way Do I Vote -Vera Greaves, "Im-So-Loyal-To-JerryGreen" -Gloria Taylor, So Far Up Jerry Green Derriere stand in -Charles Eke, newly strung rookie puppet Diane Toliver and unfortunately my pastor Rev. Tracey Abstain Brown.

The taxpaying voters of Plainfield should vote the candidate NOT THE LINE. They should know their candidates and vote for the candidate that they believe will move the City of Plainfield forward. This is a small and great city where the candidate, whether Democrat or Republican, lives near you, you know them and they know you.

I will have to say the two mayors that stand out are Mayor Al McWilliams, who was extremely kindhearted; and Mayor Adrian Mapp who is one of the most intelligent mayors that Plainfield has had within the 25 years of me living in Plainfield. I as a taxpaying voting citizen of Plainfield can see the difference between the 8 years that Former Mayor Sharon Robinson Briggs torn down Plainfield and the one year Mayor Adrian Mapp is building it back up and working to move this great city forward.

CouncilPresident Bridget Rivers is a HOT MESS! She doesn't understand what it means to be a councilpresident and she has not idea on how to run a council meeting. I guarantee all of the language that is used by Vernita Sias-Hill, Rebecca Williams, and AJ Jalloh goes right over her head.

For all of those taxpaying voters who support our mayor -Mayor Adrian Mapp - you need to attend at least a few council meetings and let Council President Bridget Rivers know she cannot treat our Mayor that way. Mayor Adrian O. Mapp is for the betterment of this great City of Plainfield and he needs cooperation for this circus like council.

  4. I think the council is doing a fantastic job. It's only a very few of you whom sign your name anonymous who's working for Mayor Mapp. I watched the tape and The Mayor got just what he deserved.

  5. Plainfield is on the rise finally. I love in Orange and no I will not sign my name. This guys works for us and he is the worst thing that ever stepped foot into Orange. Mayor Mapp or what ever you choose to be called you will never get a opportunity to sue Orange. Plainfield come to some Orange council meetings and you will see just what I am talking about.

  7. HI Doc as you know at first I was a strong supporter of the previous administration as time went on into Mayor Robinson-Briggs tenure I found her to not be the right person for Plainfield.

The same thing went for this administration. I was a strong supporter of Mapp but I am a stronger supporter for what's right for this great City of Plainfield.

This administration is very disappointing I just knew they would be a breath if fresh air. NOT

Look at their hiring practices. Take a walk over to the recreation department, Plainfield Action Services. and other departments that I will not mention because of retaliation from this Mayor so I'm told.

Mayor Mapp was totally out of line at the meeting and in my opinion he got just what he deserved.

    1. Renee, you think Sharon didn't do the same or worse? At least this mayor gave jobs to people who were qualified and smart.

Example, Dave Wynn, head of recreation. Could not tell you how many kids signed up for recreation events. He was the director and had no idea who attended his classes!

In every part of job hiring, people hire people they know. Do you work? If you know of a job where you work do you tell a friend? If they get the job, are you doing something wrong?

  8. Venita Sias-Hill help her she knows nothing about being a corporation council. She knows nothing absolutely nothing about city government. Rebecca Williams only point to Roberts Rules when she is getting her butt kicked. Rebecca Williams is a me me me person. Now Cory Storch I am watching you. Keep up the good work.

  9. Jackie Young, Renee or Anonymous -you are of the same body.

    And I am ANN NONIMOUS

  10. ANN NONIMOUS you really don't know much about Plainfield. If you have been true to any of the blogs you will see that I have always posted the way I feel. I have been true to every comment I have made. I have posted on Dan Damons Blog, Bernice Paglia Blog and especially on this one.

So you can agree or disagree with me it really do not matter to me. I will always state how I feel and I feel like we are being taking for a ride by this administration.

Poor Ron West I even felt sorry for you at the meeting. you were thrown under a moving train.

  11. Mapp tried to disguise the audit by saying 2014 was also included. I bet $$$$ that the audit will come back squeaky clean that year. Of course he is doing this for political purposes. He's doing this because Jerry Green- his biggest threat- his up for office. Little does he know Jerry has no interest in getting involved in petty politics.

    1. Yvonne, could it possibly be that Mapp who has a finance background and is a CPA just knows about finance and the rules? Could it be that Sharon had no clue, as witnessed when she admitted to breaking State law by contributing to a charity?

Why is it that the people in Plainfield love to accept things at face value, and have no interest in looking into facts?

And I must disagree with you about Jerry getting involved in petty politics. Jerry is king of creating and getting into gutter with any kind of politics.

  12. 6:46 PM You are way out of line and if you consider yourself to be "smart", look in the mirror;you may see a fool. I will not knowingly post anymore of your comments unless you send me a bonafide name and email address and a tag for your comments. Your identity will be kept private.

  13. Renee- just as "ANN NONIMOUS" stated you still can comment with fictitious names as well as your own name. And just because you post as "Renee" does not mean you are "Renee". I choose to be Anonymous because presently I work in the political arena. However, if Doc would like for me to reveal who I am I can do that in a separate email.

@Renee -it is obvious that you believe Council President Rivers had the right to throw Mayor Mapp out of the meeting. But I ask you why? Roland Mohammed and the 2 Dunns spewed out lies about Recreation, the Mayor and the Administration and they ranted way out of the allowable time. Council President Bridget Rivers allowed this circus like behavior within the council meetings. YET...Mapp explains why and how he is still able to conduct a"forensic" audit without the consent of the Council and she goes ballistic. She throws Robert's Rules right out the window. Does SHE have anything to hide? Does the Robinson-Briggs Administration have anything to hide? Why shouldn't Mapp complete a FORENSIC audit?

Bridget Rivers is the President of the Council NOT the President of Plainfield.

It is obvious that you are a MAPP HATER in your writings. I ask you Why? WHY?

    1. I have requested that all comments be identified with a "tag". That "tag" will suffice if you send your bonifide name and address(internet) to me in another email, which will be kept confidential. As you know we bloggers are not obligated to post any or all comments we receive. I try to do so but there are times when some anon try to use this blog for propaganda as different authors but anon.

  14. Thank you Doc.

Just by the verbiage I know who Renee really is - not that it really matters. It is obvious that she expected something from Mapp, perhaps a job with the City and didn't get it.

I do want to say- I found it very "unethical" or "partisan" or "unfair" of Bridget Rivers and Diane Toliver to present a check to the Negro baseball league during the council meeting. Why would they present to one league and not the other? Isn't IT about the children being able to play baseball? Or is IT about that nasty word- POLITRICKS?

Oh well time to move on to the next blog post.
