Yesterday both Maria and from far away Seattle; Bernice addressed the subject of the two Bond Issues that are on tonight's agenda. .
1255 for 2nd reading and adoption includes many projects that we are in dire need. Public Works vehicles include trucks that heave long passed their life expectancy. A Fire Department pumper replacement for an overage pumper. There are other items such as replacement of the Library Telephone system that may need clarification..
On the surface there are items on 1256 that might need further review if they are necessities or a wish list.
The Questions that have arisen about these Ordinances again reflect on this Administration lackluster fiscal control policies for the past seven years.
Robert Darden's voice calling for a forensic audit is one that will continue to be ignored as was that of the late Phyllis Mason. Years ago the State did agree to conduct one but it was rejected once by the Council in situ and another time by the Administration; both of which had to give approval.
Could we expect any other response from either body today?

No... there will be no forensic audit.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of who wins the Mayoral race, both parties are firmly vested and entrenched in "the system".
"The system" will not allow one as it will expose the one party system here in Plainfield to a microscopic examination that it cannot explain when the results are revealed.
Everyone on the City Council will scream for transparency at times but no one, including our Mayor apparent Mapp will allow the waters to be clear.. less murky maybe, but clear..not a chance. He already owes the party a debt and he will be allowed only so much leeway on exposing the embarrassing fiscal situation here in Plainfield without someone twitching the leash and telling him "enough".
Anyone can argue with that, including Mapp himself..but I say..stand up now and support one..go on record as the city needing it FOR THE CITIZENS of the city. Then, tell us how and when you're going to make it happen.
The usual naysayers will give Mapp a pass on this one as he is the lesser of two evils.

ReplyDeleteI know his stance on every general National Issue.. Abortion, Firearms, Social Agenda etc..
Much like the local Dem's he too cloaks himself in an irrelevant National Party agenda that has nothing to do with the day to day operations of Plainfield.
He speaks what the boss wants him to speak, which is what the county bosses want him to speak, which is what the state bosses want them to speak which is what the national bosses want them to think...... all of it irrelevant to Plainfield.
Although I am sure the National Stance on a Woman's Right to Choose will be waged here in lil old Plainfield it's outcome nor the battle itself has any relevance on the fiscal structure of this city .... I'm merely saying... PROVE ME WRONG. I welcome it as should every citizen of Plainfield.
Neither Mapp nor Storch nor Damon will post comments regarding their duplicity when it comes to toeing the party line when Jerry snaps the leash..so asking them anything is in reality.....a waste of my time.
I think Rob is full of gas, as he won't as Mr. Mapp about a forensic sudit. Stop playing games Rob. We're not buying it.

ReplyDeleteNo need to waste your time on the answer about Mapp and Forensic audit. If you take the time to read the mailer you just received from Mapp, it clearly states that "He will order a forensic audit of the City's finances." That seems plain enough, don't you think?
