PLAINFIELD CITIZENS 100+
MAYOR SHARON ROBINSON-BRIGGS 0
Mayor Robinson-Briggs has frequently expressed her contempt
for Plainfield’s voters. But never has she insulted the people who twice
elected her in the manner she did Wednesday night.
Well over 100 citizens were already waiting for the
scheduled 7pm Mayoral Forum to begin but one of the two Candidates was absent.
Although Robinson-Briggs was requested to by present by 6:45- 15 minutes before
starting time the Mayor had inexplicably neither showed nor communicated with
the Organizers of the Forum.
Neither FOSH nor the Plainfield League of Women Voters would
have scheduled this eagerly awaited Forum if the Mayor who is seeking the
Democrat nomination as and Independent had not agreed to participate.
The fact that so many Plainfielders were in attendance
suggested that even if they had decided who they were going to vote for; both
Candidates needed to have a chance to plead their case before a final irrevocable
voting decision was reached.
Or perhaps she intends to blind side those who would oppose
her by lulling them into not casting a b allot on Primary Day.
What might have slipped your mind is that Mapp and his co-horts like Joylette Mills-Ransome had this set up to embarrass the mayor with heavily one-sided questions.
ReplyDeleteThis was going to be a "Fair and Balanced" debate. Ah - ha...sure!!
Everyone knew that this was an ambush. Cold/chest or not, she was right not to appear. It was a complete ambush and shame on Mapp and his henchos.
Old Doc: as a West Ender I know you cared for my family long before I met your daughters Pam and Patti at Hartridge having been thrown out of PHS halfway through -
ReplyDeletemy junior year. Glad you were there tonight. I started my day at the Raritan Valley Rail Coalitiion, two guys from the
Plainfield Chamber. Two Union County freeholders, mayors of Wsstfield. Anyone official from Plainfield? NOPE.
Do you know what a one-seat ride on the train to Manhattan means to you? Stay tuned.
ok, FOSH president and LWV secretary, Pat TurnerKavanugb
She's lightheaded, Doc. Certainly explains part of her lousy 8 years in office.
ReplyDeleteTo 11:40pm - obviously you are voting for the mayor.
ReplyDeleteFor your information, the questions are presented to the League's facilitator (of course I am sure you believe that she is part of the conspiracy) who takes questions submitted on a card by EVERYONE in the audience. She sorts them according to subject and, if the mayor was there, would have asked the questions to both.
I do understand that the mayor embarrassed you, and you need to find an excuse as to why we, who do not support her, are to blame. But really, what would it have taken to make a phone call in advance (or send an email as Mr. Mapp did) to let people know you are not coming.
Obviously, you and I have different standards when it comes to what we feel is rude, ill mannered, and unprofessional. Also, you and I differ greatly on how we wish to be respected.
