OOPS

Unfortunately in my haste to post early this morning an initial report on the Council Meeting I missed up some of the provisions of B.O.1255 and 1256.

The much needed replacement of an overage fire pumper and the heavy duty vehicles of Public Works were approved in 1255. The Road replacement projects were lumped together in 1256 under Division of Engineering Projects with Green Brook Repairs, Grove Street Retaining Wall Repairs and something noted as Removal and Repair of concrete sidewalks at various municipal properties and Roadway maintenance program to the tune of $4,329,000.00

It was that vague catchall that the Council (and public) had trouble. The rest of the $771,000.00 appropriations included $250K for asbestos removal at City Hall/ Annex, $250K for refurbishing fire stations.  Plus $271K for various projects including Recreations 40K Playground Equipment Safety Surfaces (a must) and Skateboard Park Study; IT’s 55K for Computer and Printer Replacements; 75K for Planning’s Parking and traffic Analysis for “CBD and TOD”; 55K for a Global Position Tracking System (Police Division) and a 30K for a Library Project “relocation of maintenance and architectural study.

Much of this 721K is wish list that can be postponed. What is important is what does the Engineering Projects contain and how many if any are repeats of previous bond issues?

This entire Ordinance should be sidelined until after the big issue of the 2013 budget is settled, and a review of unexpended funds from previous bonds are accounted for.

The next segment this afternnon will cover other action.
