Once again New Jersey’s Presidential primaries are meaningless exercises.That is not so in races for “nominations” for Congressional office; the entire House is up for reelection this year. Likewise County offices as well as any State office the choice of candidate for the November general election could be critical.
However it is the local Democrat Council nominations that is must important; for in this one party town the winner this Tuesday will be confirmed at November’s election.
There are two factions in the Party; one is led by Mayor Mapp and has gain3wed control over the local committee, its nominees are in column A and should be supported as better than the two running as independent, The latter two most likely repr3esent the weakening Green faction that still controls the Council. In both cases her action was truly a negative vote since it reduced the number of voting Councilors that could be needed to reach the required number- not a simple majority of those present- to pass important legislation desired by administration n. On this fact alone she does not deserve to continue to represent the people of Plainfield.
