TODAY'S ELECTIONS

Once again New Jersey’s Presidential primaries are meaningless exercises. That is not so in races for “nominations”  for Congressional office; the entire House is up for reelection this year. Likewise County offices as well as any State office the choice of candidate for the November general election could be critical.

However it is the local Democrat Council nominations that is must important; for in this one party town the winner this Tuesday will be confirmed at November’s election.

There are two factions in the Party; one is led by Mayor Mapp and has gain3wed control over the local committee, its nominees are in column A and should be supported as better than the two running as independent, The latter two most likely repr3esent the weakening Green faction that still controls the Council. Councilor at large TayloBrown is running for reelection as an independent bad although she at times seemed to vote her own mind she too often either abstained from a critical vote or avoided the issue by not being present.

In both cases her action was truly a negative vote since it reduced the number of voting Councilors that could be needed to reach the required number- not a simple majority of those present- to pass important legislation desired by administration n. On this fact alone she does not deserve to continue to represent the people of Plainfield.

  1. Thanks, Doc. Hope all is well.

  2. Doc it's for that very reason (absence or abstention) that I just cannot vote for Tracey Brown. I need people who are going to stand up for something, even if I don't agree with it.

  3. Hi Doc,

I think you meant Councilor At Large Brown not Taylor, who was 3rd Ward Councilor.

    1. You are 100% right, I meant Brown. Taylor of course also missed most agenda fixing sessions but not the business meeting where wshe could and would pontificate. Tylor will not be missed.

  4. Thank you for noticing how Councilwoman Brown avoids conflicts of conscience by not voting or not being present. Abstaining is most often approving the issue and is morally wrong. That is why I could not support her as an elected member of the City Committee and I believe the majority could not confirm her. This saddens me, as I expect a lot of clergy and of my council representatives. Jerry and Sharon are gone and I thank God for that blessing.
