It has been 40 years since I could vote in the 3rd Ward., If I could today there would be only one choice; Adrian Mapp.
Yes Mapp has his faults. The greatest one is his ego. The other is that he is a professional politician. The later is truly not a fault unless it is dominated by ego.
On the other hand, Mapp has a greater knowledge of city government rules, regulations and finances than anyone else in the community. That in itself is reason to return him to the Council. Without him on the Council I am afraid that there would be a majority who if spoken to would give away the kitchen sink. I do not believe that he will sell out the public.
Abdul-Haqq is a very nice man who I highly respect for his commitment to youth and the appearance of Plainfield. But it was obvious at the Candidates’ Forum that he was out of his depth. If perhaps he should be elected he would be eaten alive by the sharks on the Council and in Administration.
For Plainfield to remain with even a minimal spark of life as a functioning community it is essential to re-elect Adrian Mapp.
I beg to disagree with you, Mapp is quite ethically challenged and in my opinion of less than impeccable character!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you Doc. Mr. Haqq showed that he is indeed out of his league and needs to do much more work be survive and benefit Plainfield if elected, I also repsect him and appreciate his service to the community, but we need a strong, knowledgable voice on the Council.
ReplyDeleteBlackdog, you are not disagreeing with me. Your characterization analysis is covered by " he is a professional politician" in discussing his "cons". In all my years I have never known a career politician who will not compromise his ethics and beliefs to stay in office.
ReplyDeleteThe choice is whether we choose someone who will be powerless on the Council (Haqq), or someone who has show that he stands for the citizens of Plainfield on the important issues. Mapp isn't perfect, but he brings much more positive than negative and will keep our mayor from hurting the city even more.

ReplyDeleteFolks, we are all less than perfect, and I'll bet we have all been a little less than ethical at one time or another. That being said, it is clear that there is an overwhelming consensus that the voters clearly want Adrian Mapp re-elected to the Third Ward and want Veronica "Roni" Taylor elected City Wide At-Large. So let's do it!
ReplyDeleteThe city is so dysfunctional with Mayor Sharon. She and her husband owe the pmua over $1500, yes, people, the MAYOR is on the list, along with new pmua director Dan Williamson, who owes over $2000! Seniors and other homeowners are losing their homes because if the pmua and the mayor's friend and pastor Tracey Brown says nothing about it. Oh yeah, she get $4500 fromthe pmua which pays HER bill, and she gets free medical benefits! And no one who supports Tracey Brown wants to say anything about this. She is taking the benefits and saying she wants to furlough workers, one who was seriously injured and lost his leg. It's a dangerous job and she wants to furlough the workers. Where is the fairness? These people dont care about Plainfield, only about stuffing their pockets and taking care of each other.

Dan williamson is going to be the new pmua director and HE doesnt pay his bill? Tracey Brown doesnt think we are suffering? The mayor doesnt pay her bill and she has the nerve to issue liens to us?
ReplyDeleteThe right Reverend Brown sits on her throne and do absolutely nothing to help PMUA ratepayers. I dont expect her to do anything to help other Plainfielders with PMUA when she doesn't help her congregrants. Way to go Reverend!
