MONDAY'S AGENDA

Did you enjoy the gigantic moon promised us for last night? No; well that is one thing that we can not attribute to Mayor/Council interaction . For the latter we will have a chance to see Monday night at the Agenda setting session.

Perhaps the three most important items are those Ordinances which will be presented for 2nd reading and enactment dealing with funds for road reconstruction.

Bond 1252 appropriates $8,252,000. with the issuance of 15 year bonds for $7.857,000.0o specifically designated for an extensive list of street resurfacing. There are many side streets listed but the major projects include Leland Ave from brook to W. 7th St., Sheridan Ave, West 4th St, and most of the Brisbane Estates area.

Bond 1253 Cancels $2,674,182. from previous adopted bond ordinances (2004,2005,2007) and transfers the money to Capital Surplus fund and designated for specific streets including Emerson Ave Phase I from East Front Street to East Third Ave(sic). Phase II goes from East Third St. to George Street.

Bond 1254Amend sections of various Bond issues of 2008,2009 for unused Road funds $5,985,000 plus $315,000.00 in Capital funds to be used for various streets including Pacific and Atlantic streets.

As in this past 7 years there is no guarantee that any of these monies will be spent or the projects accomplished. It is nice to know that we have a Director of Public works who is planning to restore Plainfield infrastructure not 4 years of political do nothing or 2 more of no leadership appointed.

There are two Resolutions that also have to do with Road improvements; the first is an inter-local agreement with Scotch Plains to repave Cushing Rd. Plainfield's share is $38,250.00. It seems that Scotch Plains has a Public Works department with the capabilities of street pavements.

The second resolution is for and Inter-local agreement with Union County to extend their re pavement of Park Ave from 9th St. to Front Street for $587,000.00. Once again it seem that the per mile cost is substantially lower than our own contracted repairs.

Other Resolutions include an award of a Contract for City Solicitor*. See foot notes. as well as Special Labor Legal Consultants.

There is a resolution ratifying contracts with the United Service Worker Association; retroactive to 12/1/2010 and extending to 12/31/2013. No terms are listed in provided data.

A Contentious resolution will be for a "Current Fund Temporary Budget Appropriation" for June 20102. It is based on the six month interim budget of 2011, plus increases in among other line items that Mayor's office and Recreation.

Included among the to be awarded with out biding professional service engineering contracts is one to CME Associates for environmental remedial services for 208-22 Lee Place. Memory suggests taht ther e have been several previous similar contracts awarded in the recent past.
