THERE IS A COUNCIL MEETING TUESDAY

If Dan’s report on Tuesday night’s Council Agenda is right about the Consent Agenda there will be little reason to attend. For all practical purposes the legislative function of local governance is a mockery.

Once again the resolutions that are to be voted separately reflect this administration's use of the approved vendor lists plus favorite contractors instead of request for bids to award contracts will not be questioned.

We have a surplus of recent disasters such as three killer hurricanes, two earthquakes in Mexico, fires in California that have destroyed over 1500 homes and commercial structures to be concerned about local malfeasance.

Add to this a blight that has destroyed a large percentage of Florida’s citrus trees. Which even before Maria has resulted in the Orange Juice processors importing large amounts of Brazilian juice to satisfy their needs.

And there is also a fungus that is affecting the plants that provide us with chocolate.

And in Washington we have a President that one member of his own party has called a “moron”. That has precipitated a typical reflexive twitter counter attack.
