WEEKEND BLATHER

I suspect that my  blog about "drones" may have given a wrong impression. No you and I can not go out and buy one today; or in the near future. When and if we could we would have to have a federal license to use it.

The truth is that their use in the states is still in a developmental stage; although the technology exists and is proven. Models are either fixed wing or rotary powered similar to the small helicopter for indoor or outdoor use that have been on the market for years.

From a news article: "The Federal Aviation Administration announced Thursday that it is seeking proposals from states, universities and other organizations for six sites where unmanned aircraft systems will be tested – a major step for integrating domestic drones into the U.S. airspace system."

NJ's Senators continue to make the news. Senator Lautenberg has decided that approaching 90 he will not seek another term. Sensible decision by one who should know better, but then power is addictive.

None the less I do not believe that reaching your 90s or even 80s means that one should curl up and wait to die. There is a reason why "life expectancy" tables extend each year although at a lesser rate. It is like the line to infinity; never reaching zero.

Heresy: I can not find, except for moral reasons, why Senator Menendez should be placed in the pillory because of prostitutes. After all that has been a human enterprise since the beginning of time and is an expression of genetic characteristics. Also in many societies marriage takes place at and even in some cases before puberty.  Never the less there is a point where it is (excluding morality as a factor) child abuses both physical and psychological. That is reprehensible and should be punished.

However the accepting of prohibited gifts and also using his influence for political purposes to benefit contributors is criminal and if proven he should be expelled from the senate and like "Pete"  Williams subject to criminal court procedure.
