A presentation by Frank Roberts about his company's role in preparing the Police Department for "Accreditation" resulted in agreeing to place the resolution on Monday's agenda with the provision that the Council receive further info. I will fallow up later today.
An emergency appropriation of $600,000.00 was approved along with a resolution for the sale of special notes to cover the cost. It was noted that since less funds were expended to day on the clean up after Sandy that the intent was for these funds to be available for up to the next five years.
Apparently there is some confusion about whether the city received 1.1 or 1.3 million from FEMA. The 1.1 million was supposed to be for the residents. The city has not received a check for that sum or for the 1.3 million reported in the newspapers for clean up of storm damage on the roads and municipal property. It is hoped that there will be some clarification on the amount, if it is one sum or two different grants and when the money will be in hand.
The meeting was so short that Dan Damon stayed to the end.
