THE WARS BEGIN
Plainfield, NJ, March 28, 2014: Siddeeq W. El-Amin, former Captain with the Plainfield Police Division, announced today that he is a candidate for the First Ward City Council seat. Councilman William Reid announced recently that he will not seek re-election to the seat.
El-Amin is no stranger to local politics. His wife is the former First and Fourth Ward Councilwoman and President (1991-1995) and El-Amin served as Director of Public Affairs and Safety in Mayor Mark Fury’s Administration. They both are business people operating “Faheemah’s Child Care Center” in the First Ward.
El-Amin retired from the Police Division after serving the city of Plainfield for thirty (30) years. In addition, he served on the Plainfield Planning Board across two administrations. He is a co-founder of the Plainfield Area Ebony Police Association (Ebony), on the Board of Directors for the Neighborhood Health Services Corp. (NHSC), formerly known as the Plainfield Health Center). Siddeeq El-Amin is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and a past National Executive Board Member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE). Currently El-Amin is a Trustee on the Northern New Jersey Chapter of NOBLE, having previously served as its Chapter President. He has the respect of law enforcement executives across the nation.
El-Amin intends to campaign on a platform of city-wide Crime and Public Safety, Ethical Leadership, Fiscal Responsibility, and Economic Development. “People, who know me, know that I am an independent, ethical thinker. I will work and vote in the interest of the People of Plainfield and not for a political party. I look forward to a campaign that includes Councilwoman Rebecca Williams for the Second and Third Wards and Charles McRae for the Third Ward. I’ve known Mr. McCrea for several years and know him to be a very sincere, knowledgeable man who will serve the city of Plainfield at the highest level. I’m excited about the future of Plainfield and our municipal government. With a Winning TEAM like this, the people of Plainfield can expect to see more cooperation with the Administration toward moving Plainfield into the future.” My campaign will rely on the good citizens of the First Ward to make their own decisions and not rely on any political machine to tell them who to vote for. Campaign donations made payable to “Elamin4CityCouncil,” may be sent to PO Box 343, Fanwood, NJ 07023. This will be a grassroots campaign for the people.
