LABOR DAY

The Tuesday after Labor Day marks the beginning of "business as usual". The summer doldrums officially have ended and the politicians, scholars(?), footballers etc get back to work. Wednesday, the Republican hopefuls have another debate, a matter of such national importance that President Obama changed a planned Wednesday speech in front of  joint Congress on the  nation's economy woes to Thursday night. Doesn't he know that Thursday night football will syphon off numbers of his target audience?

Of course  the weather reports suggest that we will have to get our zodiacs out and ready with 2 to 4 inches of rain forecast for midweek.

Locally, tomorrow night the BOE has a "Policy/Work and Study Meeting" at which "action may be taken". There are Resolutions on the agenda to be voted upon. Since "action" is a policy of the BOE at its "work/study" weekly schedules meetings these meetings must meet the standards of NJ Dept of Education required Board meetings for attendance. This is important since there seems from reports raised in Maria's Blog questions about the "three  and out" rule. Although not on the printed agenda this subject may be added for action.

Tuesday night will also be the time for the Council's "Agenda Setting Meeting".  The printed agenda suggest that this could be another one of the clock setters that once more would infer that a return to the two sessions a month could result in greater efficiency. Extra long meetings can be more conducive for important matters to slip through the cracks.

Since the support material for this meeting's agenda will not be available until late Tuesday, any discussion by  bloggers will have to wait until the days following the meeting. That will be most  important regarding the items up for vote next Monday.
