COMMENTARY #3 COUNCIL MEETING

As expected the two ordinances were approved on first reading and will be acted upon at the October business. The first ordinance was an addition to the fire protection code that mandated the installation of Knox key boxes on residences more than four units or businesses and commercial buildings the second resolution restricts parking on three streets south of E7th St. in the Netherwood station area.


Residents will be given a parking sticker to the be attached to their car and also one tag review mirror to be use by visitors. This a resident has more than one car a permit that will be given for each car along with a separate visitors


During the public comment session Republican Council candidate Bill Michelson objected  that the ordinance does not provide parking provision for clients of those who have professional offices in the affected area  That part of the ordinance may be amended before the October second reading..


This ordinance also restricted parking on one side of W8th Street from Park Avenue to Central  Avenue.


Two new items introduced as "walkons". The first; the receipt of the 2011 interim budget were adopted.  

The second new item was postponed until the  September 21 special meeting. When it was introduced,Board of Education President Renata  Hernandez  spoke for its adoption. The Resolution would give permission for the High School Marching Band when there is a football game  to march from the High School to the field. There have been some misrouted paperwork therefore it was not acted upon at this meeting and should be on the Set. 11 Special Meeting agenda.


For years in the past the High School Marching Band had always marched before the game down Park Ave from the High School to the  Hub Stine Field.. There should be no objection to this resolution, a positive Plainfield item.
