CORRECTION

Siddeeq El-Amin has sent this copy of a correction  to  the Courier story.  Two words  "OTHER THAN"  completely change the implications resulting from the original.

"El-Amin told the Courier News that he was approached on Election Day by Green, who asked El-Amin to support someone other than Riley.(I assume for Police Director)
DRAFT CORRECTION FOR TOMORROW. (Our corrections have to be written in a way that don’t repeat the error.) A story in Wednesday's edition should have reported that Siddeeq El-Amin, the mayor’s nominee for Plainfield Director of Public Affairs and Safety, said he was asked by Assemblyman Jerry Green to support a candidate OTHER THAN Captain Michael Gilliam or Carl Riley for the position of Police Director. El-Amin did not believe that candidate was qualified for the position."

New Jersey politics can be vicious and often marked by show boating at the expense of a member of the other faction. All this always takes place with a complete disregard for the welfare of the public whom they are suppose to represent. It is time that all act like the "Honorable" statesmen they are supposed to be.

Mapp has a rough road ahead to restructure the city government using recommendations the transition committee proposed. This was a citizen's committee not one of a political party that acted to find a way to revitalize Plainfield. It will take the collaboration of all; Administration and Council to accomplish that.

I am not asking the Councilors to be  rubber stamps; but if they do have objections to  any Administration request or action they should publicly voice  there* their concerns.

The deep freeze seems to be over outside,  how about inside?

* Thanks to auto-speller the wrong there/their was selected.

  1. It is true. The Council is owned by Green. It is apparent the Council does not want to see Mapp succeed. The Council voted "NO" for the MOST IMPORTANT issues, PUBLUC SAFETY. Meanwhile, a man was shot on South Ave at 8pm. Plainfield is falling apart and the youth is suffering. Support the Mayor and give Mapp what he needs to succeed.

  2. The council, who definitely takes sides in politics, all came together when it came to vote for the previous mayor's appointments for cabinet. Even Rebecca voted to appoint the people Sharon wanted in the spirit of letting the mayor run her administration.

If the council does not give Mayor Mapp his cabinet, the lack of safety in this city is on their heads. They are responsible, and this city should hold them to it. So if politics plays out, ask the council members who voted against Riley -

    1 - Why
2 - How are they going to sleep at night knowing their game playing caused deaths

Where is the spirit of cooperation folks? Only there if Jerry says OK? Grow a backbone!

  5. No backbone or accountability to the constituents of their wards, their God or the people of the city.. Their only accountability is to Jerry and the Union County Democrats.
They'll hem and haw and provide further proof as to what A-1 clowns they are without once alluding to the fact the only reason they are blocking it is because they were told to.
They think that just because they don't tell us that their strings are being told we don't know they are being pulled. Of course.. not one person will call them or Jerry out on this as "we wouldn't want to be a party divided" in the new age of capitulation amongst the Koumbaya Demcrats here in Plainfield.
Always party first...people and the city a distant third place. The Democrats in Plainfield are the epitome of insanity... doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. When you can think and vote intelligently and get people in office who have no problem telling Jerry and the Union County Democratic Party to go screw themselves maybe things will change... but I'm sure on the next election cycle and even after more than a few beat downs by Jerry & Clowns Inc. on the City Council we'll have the same whiners and criers screaming VOTE FOR JERRY, VOTE FOR THE USELESS PUPPETS ON THE CITY COUNCIL..
