I am off to the tooth fairy this morning so this will
be only a short report.
The fallout from the Newtown shootings has reached
Plainfield. The Council’s Agenda Fixing Session has been moved to the Courtroom
and all attendees were obligated to go through metal detectors. Although we
were not required to remove our shoes, belts with metal buckles had to be
removed and placed on the tray along with keys and pocket knives as well as
rings.
Although it is always possible that some nut might
decide to shoot members of the Council I think such stringent screening is overkill.
We must not turn our country in to a police state.
The meeting itself was brief with limited discussion. Accepted
provisionally pending an “interview” was the two nominated to the PMUA board.
One Resolution introduced at the meeting was to pay the
Mayor’s legal fees from the WBL affair which to quote a remark was “only about
(a matter of) $20,000.00.” This will b e passed 4:3 next week.
From this first working session it appears that there
will be a lot of 4:3 votes during 2013.
If we are looking at the Council for the 2013 session for guidance and advice; you won't get it while Bridget Rivers(so call president at-large) IS A JOKE. She really doesn't have a clue none of the questions were answered this is just a Stall tactic so the administration will not answer any questions to the public as they are asked in front of the public to try to save the Mayor's rear-end to help her stay in one more term. If anyone cares about the city she will be through! As we had another shooting in the city of Plainfield this morning. Folks wake up. We are being led by blind horses.
ReplyDeleteLady Lucy, I did suggest to the Council President that since Citizens ask questions in public the public deserves to know the answer. They too have an interest.
ReplyDeleteBridget is also councilor for Ward 4. The ward has its issues, and I don't see the councilwoman doing much.
ReplyDeleteSomeone from the 4th Ward, please answer me and let me know how much better your quality of life since Bridget and Vera have been representing you. And how much better is your life with this mayor who has been in office for 8 years.
and the shock of all this is ???
ReplyDeleteHey.... don't blame the voters..they did what Mapp and Storch said good Democrats do.. VOTE THE PARTY LINE.. this is why we have 4 of the Mayor's Stooges on City Council!
Rob, you sure do complain a lot about New Dems, of which I am not. How about we try to put plans in place to fix things, oust those who do nothing, and stop the blame game.
ReplyDeleteANONYMOUS: Certainly ....but you are in error.
ReplyDeleteI find fault with those who are the "leadership" and defacto mouth pieces of the New Dems who openly flaunt their duplicitous nature.
If you're looking for leadership I believe Rebecca Williams would be the way to go.
