FYI; The Friends of the Plainfield
Public Library are having a another fund
raiser with Digital Memory Media on Jan 12, 2013 This will allow folks to
convert their VHS, cassettes, slides, photos etc to digital.
The time: 11:00 am to 2:00
pm. and will be in room 4.
Thankfully the nonsense that is
called the College Football Bowl season is over with as great a letdown
(mismatch) as could not be possibly conceived. It would be nice to go back to
the old system of four major bowels all representing traditional conferences rivalries. The present profusion of bowel games exists
for only one reason; not to glorify amateur sports, but to garner the almighty
dollar.
Oh for the olden days when there were
truly student athletes and when such national unknown small bastions of
learning like Hampden Sydney could beat the University of Virginia in football!
For this couch potato the one
enjoyable sport season is now with us. That is College Basketball. But even
that sport has become big business and traditional rivalries have been abandoned
for leagues that may have little geographic relationships but encompass big
money markets.
So much for trivia; last night
sharing public interest with the BOE and the PMUA, the Charter Commission held
its first working meeting. Along with
the five dedicated citizen Commissioners there were six citizens in attendance.
That included a representative from the League of Women Voters and the three
bloggers.
The Commission by law has to have is
function completed and its findings reported by August 2013. At that time their
report will be available to all for study and any recommendations for change will
be on the November ballot. For those interested their meeting minutes will be
posted on their blog site.
