COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT

Jan. 3 the council reorganization meeting including the Mayor's State of the City Address. Will she or will she not report on the "hunt?" for a CFO and a replacement for the Corporation Counsel? Will we get a report on the status of the Dornoch claim for the Senior Citizens Center? Will we get a report on the effectiveness of the ShotSpotter installations? My bookie can't place any bets.

Among all then new appointments to fill various boards and commissions there is one outstanding void; the appointments to the PMUA. Apparently the Mayor is happy with the present situation and has not even presented the name of a replacement for Brown.

The Council President will be Bridget Rivers whose CV includes the Presidency of the BOE. This year's Council will have in addition to the Mayor's supporters; Rivers, Reid, and Greaves the newly elected Councilwoman at Large Brown. The implication seems to be that the Mayor will have a free reign this year and there will be little is any effective pressure on her to fill important and mandatory vacant administrative posts.

For various reasons including a visit to the Endodontist (ouch) this afternoon; I may not be able to attend this meeting; therefore I may not have a report tomorrow. This will be one of the few that I expect to miss during 2013. It will b e up to the  Council President to maintain the quality the Council operated under for the past three years Amen.
