On Monday I praised the efforts of several Plainfield
bloggers in their attempts to make our city once again a viable and vibrant
community. There is an ultimate hope that something will ignite a local “spring
uprising” by concerned but reluctant residents who are disturbed by the present
and near future dysfunctional government. Or perhaps the local powers that be will accept their fiduciary role.
Four bloggers continue to post knowing full well that their
words when directed at local problems often fall upon the apparent deaf ears of
not only those of the civil leadership, but also the potentially powerful
media. Never the less it is with
knowledge that those individuals do monitor their blog.
Among those is the 20+ year Chairman of the Plainfield
Democrat Party and “powerful member’ of the State Assembly, Jerry Green who
often takes a swipe at those who find fault with him or "his" Plainfield. That is his
prerogative and once again he does not miss that opportunity in his Jan. 3 New Year’s
message.
To quote: “Unfortunately in politics you can’t make
everyone happy. As I travel around the 22nd district and all over the state I
see no other towns that have people who haven't done anything to move their
towns forward but be so critical of what’s going on. That’s what I see going on
in Plainfield.
Over the past years when they decided to be negative about
Plainfield I have ignored their comments and focused on the job of being
Assemblyman in the 22nd district. People come up to me all the time and tell me
that the way they behave is a major embarrassment to the city of Plainfield.
They know who they are and how little they have done for the
city of Plainfield. These individuals bring more harm to the city than any
other outside negative force could ever possibly do.”
He concludes:” Negativity keeps good people from running for office in this city as
they spread lies and hate”.
I take umbrage with his broad
statements since I cannot remember any blog by the four that has been deliberately
false, nor has promoted racial or religious division and/or hatred. As I have
remarked it is not a crime to find fault with political leadership especially
when it seems to have strayed from the righteous path. That is not negativity,
but rather a positive civic duty.
It is also although Green denies it;
there is no person who has a greater impact upon the political life and office
holders than the Chairman of the City Party. (Note that I did not say "Democrat"
since for practical purposes there is no viable local Republican party.) Indeed
there are some in his party that by comments to various blogs have accused him of dictatorial tendencies.
Be that as it may; the truth of the
matter is that without Assemblyman Green’s willingness to take a positive
intervention into the day by day Plainfield affairs; this city will always be a
focus of derision by other communities. If he is unwilling or unable to do so
it can only mean that the Mayor has become too politically strong for him. I
doubt that, so the alternative is that he is happy with Plainfield.
Let those vacant essential
administrative posts be filled with responsible knowledgeable individuals. For
a change let 2013 be memorialized as the year of functional legal government.
4:30 PM Note. Clarification; I do not expect Assemblyman Green to take an active part in city matters. However that is a role for City Party Chairman Green.
I love it - opinion/comments outside of the quote are in caps
ReplyDeleteOver the past years when they decided to be negative about Plainfield I have ignored their comments AND EVERYONE ELSE'S and focused on the job of being Assemblyman in the 22nd district BOWING DOWN TO DEMOCRATIC PARTY'S WISHES AND KISSING THE RING OF THOSE WHO ARE REALLY IN POWER . People come up to me all the time and tell me that the way they behave is a major embarrassment to the city of Plainfield. PEOPLE COME TO ME ALL THE TIME AND TELL ME THAT THE WAY JG BEHAVES IS A MAHOR EMBARRASSMENT TO THE CITY OF PLAINFIELD.
What a goof and a liar because he certainly has done his fair share of name calling. Green has done nothing for. Taxes are sky high, services are poor and there is no end in sight for taxpayers. NJ one of the most unfriendly business environments in the State. That says it all.
ReplyDeleteOne solution: MAKE NJ A RIGHT TO WORK STATE. It's working in Wisconsin, et al.
ReplyDeleteWould Jerry ever introduce that? Of course not, and neither would our RINO Governor.
Therefore, we know they are in the pockets of the Unions and could care less about our taxes.
Hell with them all.
Nothing will change until you can either get a viable Republican Party active in Plainfield once again or you can convince the "New" Dems to vote intelligently and support candidates who aren't Democrats.
ReplyDeleteNeither one is going to happen anytime soon.
The New Dems like to cry about how evil Jerry Green is and bad for the city but support and vote for him every time.
Jerry Green IS PLAINFIELD so if Plainfield wants to be embarrassed and ashamed..they should look in the mirror first..especially the New Dems.
Rob, you're treating New Dems as if we're a bunch of zombies. We vote our conscience and in the last election, except for the president, I voted for very few other Dems on the ticket and in fact voted for a few Republicans.
ReplyDeleteI remember the negativity and misrepresentations made by Mr. Green when my husband, Jim Pivnichny, ran for mayor. Mr. Green and his tactics are a major cause of good candidates not wanting to seek office in Plainfield.
ReplyDeleteThe reality is the current "powers that be" court the poor in Plainfield.
ReplyDeleteThe unemployed poor in Plainfield could care less about taxes. They are on Section 8, get welfare, get handouts. They don't pay taxes. Our federal and state tax dollars pay taxes via rent payments, and paid by absentee landlords.
What is offensive are black leaders taking advantage of their poor black constituents, who are on the whole, not educated nor sophisticated.
Gerry Green is the embarasement to the city as well as his district. He cannot speak, think or write. Does anyone believe that his so called blog is written by him. This man is so out of touch. He and his buddy Charlete need to get a grip around each others neck.
ReplyDeleteSeveral people whom I know have attempted to get the Mayor's nomination to the PMUA Board of Commissioners. These were people with commendable educational and business experience who had meaningful suggestions to improve the operations. FUGEDABOUDIT! Mr. Green says that the population is hypercritical. Negative. Counterproductive to HIS good offices. How could any thinking person be otherwise. Honest, well intended, intelligent people are Mr. Green's anathema. Bill Kruse
ReplyDeleteBob... I as reiterate repeatedly... It's your NEW DEM representatives : MAPP, STORCH and VOCAL MOUTH PIECE- DAMON who are unable and unwilling to take a stand.
ReplyDeleteThey are the ones repeatedly screaming, wailing and beating their chests regarding the evil that is Jerry Green. Then...crunch time comes ( you know, when Jerry snaps the leashes a little ) the group comes running screaming " VOTE THE PARTY LINE ". Doc himself has commented on this so please.. if you personally have an issue with it.. Then say something to them. I'm sure they'll elbow you a little, giggle and say "We're just pretending wink - wink, nod - nod."
The worst.. they stand there pretending no one remembers what they say and how they stand at crunch time..
So, the question is Bob..What bother's you most ?? Me thinking you and your ilk are zombies ? Or your de facto leaders treating you as idiots ???
Let me know which bothers you most.. It truly does interest me.
Hence..why I have more respect for Jerry Green and Mayor Sharon. They don't treat you differently when you're out of the room. They're garbage..but they're honest.
