This is the 2057 blog that I have posted since my first one nearly four years ago. Since there are only 365 days in a year plus one extra in that four year period that would in dictate that I have often posted more than once in a day.
Looking back many of those posting reflected the same City problems that exist today. In fact this early April 2008 post click here about the streets could have been written for today's blog.
Of late there has been a paucity of material for blogging. It is my hope now that the end of the year hiatus is over there will be more interest in city affairs as well as the political maneuverings up to the November elections.
The Republican "Debates" have been an interesting innovation for this election. Of the six still contenders Romney is most likely to receive the nomination. Since he us the closest to a Centralist- not liberal- Republican he seems to be the most palatable one for a broad spectrum of registered Republicans. On the other hand the far conservative right wing may sabotage him even if that would guarantee an Obama reelection.
Rick Santorum is so far to the right that one newspaper columnist referred to him as a "neo-fascist". Gingrich is the most glib speaker and is probably the world's smoothest con man. He can deflect withe ease any criticism aimed at him. Dr Paul -yes sad to say he is a physician- would revert to the isolationism that was in part responsible for WWII. Huntsman is too unknown and as to Perry; well we recently had one Texas Governor as President. We hope the Country can learn from "history".
Tonight's Council meeting may spring some surprises although the agenda seems bland.
The congressional redistricting placed Plainfield in the tag end of a tail in a safe Democrat stronghold the 12th. It is doubtful that we will get any more benefits from the change than under our present Congressman.
