This is a preliminary report about the Council meeting. The Council went into a 50 minute Executive Session immediately after convening the meeting to further discuss Resolution 36-12 which reprimanded the Mayor-see earlier post.
When that Resolution came up for vote it was passed unanimously to my surprise. However Councilor Read after the vote, once again was critical of the Council Majority for spend time and legal fees for what he called only $5000.00 of City Money. Apparently disregard of the law is of no consequence if the sum is small.
After the Council's vote on the Resolution; the Mayor's attorney asked for a few minutes to make remarks about the WBLS report and Council's action. . For the first time we learned, as I have questioned in earlier Public Comment segments,, that we the tax payers were also paying for his services when he was refereed to as Special Consul for the Mayor.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Councilor Reed is a joke and needs to go. I hope the voters in his ward pay attention and vote him out. Sharon got what she deserved and has been terrorizing workers at City Hall for years. She is not a kind or compassionate person, but self-centered and self-serving.
ReplyDeleteIt seems as though Plainfield Pols follow the advice of an ancient Indian Pol . . ."Do not be very upright in your dealings for you would see by going to the forest that straight trees are cut down while crooked ones are left standing."-

A complete waste of tax payers money.
ReplyDeleteTrue. This is OZ.
8:21: If you are referring to the costs resulting from the Council hiring an independent counsul the answer is no; that part of the total resulted in exposure of an illegal action. If the result is only a $200.00 fine then yes.
ReplyDeleteThe real problem with waste is how much of the suggested $50,000.00 cost went to the Mayor's lawyer. Should the City have paid him? I believe not.
