FOR MONDAY'S AGENDA

Two items of interest in the upcoming agenda. The first has to do with a request to use funds to meet payments on a suit settlement:" RESOLUTION REQUESTING APPROVAL FOR 2015 EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR LITIGATION SETTLEMENT
WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen with respect to language contained within a settlement of pending litigation dated July 20, 2015 between Byron Halsey and Frank Pfeiffer, which requires the City of Plainfield to pay a total of $1,365,200 (One Million Three Hundred Sixty Five Thousand Two Hundred Dollars), in four annual payments of $341,300.00 --."

Byron Halsey was wrongfully convicted for a pair of child sex assaults and murders committed in 1985 before being exonerated by DNA evidence in 2007

The other item is the attestation on an Ordinance for first reading;  " David Minchello, Corporation Counsel  Date: July 8, 2015" Very interesting since the face sheet notes that the position “is vacant” and   the communication from the Mayor states that Silas-Hills removal from that office  will be effective on July 16,2015. Moreover I have not seen any notice that Minchello has been appointed to the post even as “acting”. The good news is that he has been in the past the best Corporation Counsel we have had for the past decade, and I welcome him back.
