As I noted in my last blog the Mayor has vetoed the “HAP Lots
9&7 land transfer” ordinance. There is an agenda fixing item- not a voting
item-for a resolution overriding the veto. The wording of that resolution was
forthcoming.
The rest of the agenda items seem routine. There is a resolution
renewing the contract with CIGNA for providing employee “”short and long term
disability insurance”. The support material reads “the most competitive bid” but
there is no notation of other bids.
Likewise a renewal resolution of the prescription insurance contract
with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield is on the docket. It is noted that it was
the lowest bid listed but the terms are different from the other listed bidder.
Although there seems to be an adequate explanation this is a matter of
comparing “apples with oranges”.
Worth noting when taxes come due; there are two resolutions with
a total of 247 tax adjustments as a result of ‘County Board Adjustments”
totaling $412,426.46 plus an additional $5,589.71 in refunds.
This is a reflection of how much Plainfield property values
have dropped in the past 6 years due to the recession, foreclosures, and an
inept government unwilling to be progressive in addressing the issues.
