THAT COMMUNITY ID CARD

That "Community ID Card" supplied by " Angels for Action" for a $10.00 fee would have all the odor of a money scam except for the fact that in their promotion there is printed in Red:

It is most unfortunate that once again "our Mayor" Robinson-Briggs has given her personal stamp of what implies to be official sponsorship.

If Hellwig which I doubt also gave de facto approval that could be consistent with his stewardship.

There is nothing wrong with a paper of identification  which contains a photo but it has no legal value and that should be emphasised.

The question of legitimization of the illegals must be addressed by Congress and I hope that the political circus in  DC can collectively for once do something constructive.

Once thing that can be done locally is an official through Council Action authorize the issuance of a voluntary requested ID Card with picture and a thumb print. The question of citizenship should not be addressed on that card.

This may help reduce targeted hassling of Hispanics, a subject that gets too little publicity.

  1. Doc, it's all about making the illegals feel as though something is being done for them.
It is actually being done to them by making them feel good, so that if amnesty is awarded to the miscreants, the Dems have some new citizens who somehow feel beholdin'! Not tha a lot of them haven't voted in past elections.

  2. Hey Blackdog; a serious charge.Do you have any proof, or enough valid suspicion that there should be a state investigation? No need to reply.

  3. Dr. Yood, your insight and compassion for all of Plainfield's residents, East and West is admirable.

  4. Blackdog, (1) I was refering to your remark about illegal voting.(2)Yes Foreign nationals residing in the USA are in violation of the law and considered criminals. However consider the fact that are imigration quotas are squared to favor Europeans and making it difficult for other nationals. I do not know when there has been an adjustment in the last century.
We do not recommend unlimited entry but the numbers should be increased. Also, there should be specific work visas for those who come to do crop labor a work that too many of our own unemployed will not do.

  5. Doc, I went to the website, and there is blatant misrepresentation about these "ID" cards. I will ask our Corporation Counsel for his legal opinion on this. I think the website should be taken down immediately due to its many false statements, such as:

"This card is not issued by any city, state or federal agency, but is 'endorsed by the Plainfield Police Department and the City of Plainfield.'" FALSE. I have seen no evidence of an "endorsement."

"This Photo ID maybe used at social service agencies, schools, clinics, parks, post offices, and libraries for purposes of access to basic municipal or health services by immigrants, the elderly, youth or persons without a permanent home who may be unable to obtain other kinds of ID."

"It may be used as a form of customer identification by check cashing companies, banks, pharmacies, retail stores or other establishments."

Further, to say that the card can be used as official ID when it is NOT official is simply dishonest--there is no specific information as to where it may be used--which post offices, which banks (aside from PNC Bank--they are listed as a sponsor--can one go into PNC Bank with one of these cards?), which pharmacies, which check cashing companies?

The site says that no information can be kept--that all the info provided will be erased after issuance of the card--why on earth would anyone believe that?

The wording is taken verbatim from another municipal website--who vetted it?

Finally, although it seems as if these ID cards are targeting immigrant communities (especially the Latino community here in Plainfield), theoretically, ANYONE--citizen, resident, or not--can go and apply for one. Perhaps I should go and apply for one and see where it's accepted.

  6. "The Mercer County Area Community ID Card is intended to act as a widely recognized token of membership in a common endeavor, that of accepting each other as human beings, interdependent, co-responsible for our own and our neighbor’s well being, so that together we can build a better community for ALL."

Feels sort of scammish to me.
