RAMBLINGS

This is the week that is.

Obama has arrived in Israel for the first time; In the three days planned he probably will make  no earth shattering public announcements. Today he will visit with the President of the  Palestinian Authority.

That which is publicly pronounced will have little impact, it is the private agreements and warnings which will chart the course of events in the Middle  East.  Many of us use t the older term  "Near East" rather than the AP preferred "Middle East" .The AP lists the countries involved  as Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Egypt, Sudan, and “the eastern part of Turkey.”

This area  is so unstable that it could be the nucleus of the next big war..

Today's Courier features an article about Plainfield's new Fire Pumper #2; complete with a picture of our Mayor standing in front of the engine. Perhaps this is an election year.

Mention is also made about the eight new vehicles the police have acquired.. All these have been funded by Grant funds. Is it possible that without a individual with expertise in grant monies Plainfield has missed many an opportunity these past seven years.?

By the way did "ShotSpoter" miss another one as reported in Dan's blog this past Tuesday. Are we again paying for some one's useless fancy?

Many times in the past, Bernice in her blog PlaintalkerII and myself in this blog have written about people sending in comments under the "Anonymous" cloak that are clearly personal attacks on individuals. Those we refuse to post, although sometimes one slips past us.

We understand that there may be job related fears that persuade readers to want to hide their identity. However, a "tag" is appreciated. It is possible to trace even an anonymous note to the source computer.

That said Jerry's blog yesterday about a comment posted in Plainfield Today is a valid one. I must apologize that when I first read the comment the "old boy" connotation did not register. I agree with Jerry that it was meant to be racist derogatory and I am sure that Dan would not have posted it if he had understood the term. Bigotry and hatred in any shape or form must be condemned whether written or posted or spoken, especially at Council meetings.
