OPRAH OPRAH

Over the past week there has been a surplus of national political news. Most significant has been the flurry over Oprah after the Golden Globe Awards
.There is little doubt in my mind that Oprah is preparing to run for the Presidency in 2020. Despite the fact that media celebrities have turned out to be poor political executives for example take the track records of Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger in California, the former governor of Minnesota, wrestler Jesse Ventura, and that of the present inhabitant of the White House; THE PUBLIC WOULD ELECT OPRAH because she is (1) a Democrat, (2) a woman, and (3) black. Remember Hillary may have lost the elector votes but she won by a substantial margin the popular vote.
Yes, Oprah is a brilliant PERSON far greater than Trump, but that does not mean that she has the political knowledge and savvy to run this nation.
I hope Trump is no more than a one term President. That the nation realizes its mistake and does not repeat it.

Other DC happenings include the President expressing a willingness to reevaluate the DACA problem but has tied it to including funds to build “THE WALL” in the (temporary) budget which must be passed before the 20th to avoid a government shutdown. In the meantime a California district judge has issued an order suspending the March dead line until all court challenges are settled. Also a court has temporarily blocked the ejection of the Salvadorians.

Other news includes the independent Federal Energy Regulatory Commission unanimously rejecting a proposal by Energy Secretary Rick Perry that would have boosted coal and nuclear energy over natural gas and renewables in competitive electricity markets;  Democrat Senator  Dianne Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee  releasing over the Republican objections A transcript of a congressional interview of the co-founder of Fusion GPS, the firm that compiled research on candidate Donald Trump, was released by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee. And of course the ongoing Mueller investigation with a possible request for Trump’s appearance.

Worldwide the North Koreans agreed to support and participate in the Winter Olympics. More importantly they scheduled political talks with South Korea.

A subsequent blog will have more letters about the “Dear Kill”
