Special Meeting

The Special meeting to approve (or reject) amendments to the proposed Mayor's budget lasted just over 3 hours from its supposed  starting time. Part  of the delay was to again accommodate Councilor Rivers on the speaker conference phone since she mentioned that she was "driving?".

Because of the late hour a more complete report will be delayed to late Thursday. However there were certain standout items that merit brief mention; (1)The recently hired Public Information Officer's position will not be funded, (2) The increase in the Library funding was approved by a 6:1 vote, with Reid objecting and (3) the inclusion of the previous approved $50,000.00 to Council's operating expenses was after a prolong discussion and a recess to unsuccessfully find out the  vote on the original action on that resolution was passed by a 4:3 vote with a determination if the vote super majority was needed. Since those funds were designated for a study on how to disband the PMUA; I need not name the 3 dissenters.

  1. Reid needs to stop playing with the needs of the citizens of Plainfield and ignoring what we want. He nuzzles up to Sharon something aweful and thinks it will get him somewhere. I hope he is voted out and I will be one who reminds the voters of his shady service and how much he ignores what is right for Plainfield.
