COUNCIL AGENDA MUST WAIT

The review of tomorrow’s Council agenda will wait until later today or Monday am. Everything local, or national has been overshadowed by our President’s twitter rants.

His mentor Roy Cohn of McCarthy fame believed that to defuse dangerous complaints or potentially harmful stories one should vigorously counter attack with “alternative facts” no matter how true. The public would tend to discount the original negative story.

Not only are Trump’s twitters un-Presidential but their questionable honesty raises questions about his mental status and ability to lead this country.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper addressed President Trump's claim that Trump Tower was wiretapped before his election victory, telling NBC's 'Meet the Press' that, under his watch, 'there was no such wiretap activity mounted against the president-elect at the time, as a candidate, or against his campaign.' When asked by 'Meet the Press' host Chuck Todd if he could confirm or deny a FISA court order existed for Trump Tower, Clapper declared, 'I can deny it.'(Meet the Press; 3/5/17)

If he hopes to prevent an investigation into his associates’ contacts with Russian leaders before his inauguration he not only will fail because he has alienated members of his own party in Congress. In addition these charges against Obama may expose him to hearings by Congress or Justice. This can be the path toward impeachment.

  1. Clapper also said when asked whether there was collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians, no. But I did expect you to select your facts.

    1. Annon 12:04, If you mean t5o be critical, please try to understand what I wrote. I am only concerned with the President's accusation of the Democrat's wire trapping his "communications, not the issue of contacts with the Russians. People especially his devotees tend to take his twitters as the words of god whether they are true or not. If untrue this President is deceiving the public by spreading falsehoods. That is unacceptable and in my view impeachable.

    2. Thank you for your clarification that the President spreading falsehoods is unacceptable. It doesn't matter if you are a Republican or a Democrat.

    3. Anon 12:04 - Olddoc didn't select his own facts - however since you apparently choose to do so why would it not be acceptable for him to do the same?
