TO GO OR NOT
There was no blog Sunday which was Mother’s day since anything I wrote about OZ would have been disrespectful of more than one mother. Let them enjoy the day. I did one pain free and relaxing; time sitting outside with Dawg and watching the world go by.
I have reviewed tonight’s agenda and most likely will not attend this one since I am at present dependent on a driver and did not make arrangements.
Since the fireworks that will take place are not on the agenda as printed and will only take place if Rivers allows some new discussion item or if and when the Administration tries to reintroduce the hiring of an engineer for the road work, or a redevelopment specialist which if last week’s circus suggests would be defeated by 4 votes. Thus it seems that the effort to go would not be worth this semi-cripple time.
I have had a balance problem and after April’s agenda session a fall in the parking lot with a resulting left shoulder impairment which is now almost 100% OK. I am reluctant to come independently with a walker for balance at this time, but will be at the June Agenda session. After all this is the session where problems with the agenda should be ironed out, at the business meeting should be pro forma.
If our esteemed Councilors were up to snuff on their fiduciary responsibilities as well as the nuances of Parliamentary procedures they would understand that before a no or rejecting vote on a opposed action it would be appropriate to give an explanation of their objection before the vote so that the public could understand their reasoning. Without that courtesy there is an impression that all that is involved is political obstructionism.
Also, there must be a valid reason to abstain such as a conflict of interest or other ethic question. The abstainer can state that h/she doesn’t understand the matter, but to do so without explanation would suggest ignorance of the subject and would imply that the 150 pages of the packet had not been read.
It would be nice if all members of the Council were familiar with the Charter and City Codes as well as the Council's own rules.

ReplyDeleteCity Hall is a complete mess. There is so much back stabbing and back biting here now. This place is a stressful place to work.
What bothers me is that there are children running around the recreation department as if it has become a baby sitters club. The funny thing about that is the recreation director do not support any recreation programs for children.
How can the Council conceivably consider allowing any construction project, roadwork or otherwise, which it is paying for, to proceed absent competent engineering inspection? Inspection should be included in the initial cost analysis. It costs a great deal more to repave a road when it prematurely unravels than it does to construct it properly in the first instant. If the Council objects to financing the engineering inspection then as you suggest Doc, I would certainly like to hear their rationale. Bill Kruse

ReplyDeleteObviously (or maybe not obviously) you are an employee of The City of Plainfield and are located in the Annex Building. So -regarding your dull-witted statement regarding the children running around the Recreation department --NO you wouldn't think it is a baby sitters club, but you would know that WIC takes up most of the floor and the babies are crying ALL THE TIME!
And obviously (or not) you are a Shady Sharon and a Ass. Green supporter. Mapp's administration is cleaning up the COMPLETE MESS Sharon's administration and YOU created.
