Five (5) more days to election, Six (6) more days minus 68 years to D DAY.
That event years ago created the world we live in today. In this country more than in any other we have the right to determine our fate; to elect our leaders. WE also are free to protest against the government without fear of being shot or jailed.
Yes it took time and leadership and sacrifice by many including Martin Luther King. Remarkably an avowed racist , President Johnson was the driving force behind the "Great Society" legislation that included laws that upheld civil rights, public broadcasting, Medicare, Medicaid, environmental protection, aid to education, and his "War on Poverty." These were the key acts that are the keystone of the political liberty we enjoy.
Five days from now we again have the opportunity to be sure that those privileges at the local level are to be used wisely for the common good and not for personal attainment.
Tonight the Council will meet again and try to come up with a solution to the $1.500, 000.00 shortfall in the Mayor’s submitted budget. Responsibility falls on the Council when the Administration fails in its fiduciary role.
We cannot afford a Council that blindly condones management irresponsibility.
There is only one choice in each race; Mapp and Taylor.
I think since Reid, Rivers and Greaves are the Mayor's biggest and most enthusiastic cheerleaders, hand holders and apologists..let the 3 of them come up with the solution. This way..the remaining 4 can rubber stamp it and we will know which mental zombies are to blame.
ReplyDeleteScrew politics.
Let the Mayor's cheer leading squad solve the problem. Then anyone with an issue will know who to blame.
I agree that the mayor's stooges, all three of them, should have to shoulder this alone. Maybe people will see how irresponsible and self-serving they are. Perhaps then, they will be kicked out of office. This mayor will go, but not soon enough. Even Jerry can't put her up, since his place in the Assembly is not that secure. Perhaps Plainfield will finally have the leadership it needs and deserves. I'm sure Sharon and Tracy are nice people, they are just not good for city government and are bad for the people of this city.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the endorsement of Taylor and Mapp. I don't know any of the candidates personal all I know is that the other 2 are no good for the city. When you avoid questions and think an upscale flea market is the anser to economic development you are not for the betterment of the Plainfield, and if you have a conflict with answering questions regarding the PMUA then it's a conflict for you to have a seat as a council member.
