Since it was out of contex but news worthy I am posting it as a special municipal interest subject.
Hello again Doc,
I realize this is out of context from the
discussion, but I just do not know how to get this information out there
to the Plainfield and the rest of the public regarding the ongoing saga
of Central Jersey Arts Charter School.
It is my understanding that there was a special Board meeting held this past Tuesday
during which the entire Board of Trustees was dismissed as well as the
corporation that was given responsibility - Renaissance School Services
- for turning the school around.
Some of the reasons have to do
with student assessment results -- one of the lowest of all public
schools in NJ - and the fiscal irregularities and irresponsibilities .
Why
is no one reporting on this? This charter school has underperformed
for years yet has been kept out of the educational accountability
limelight.
There may be an explanation as to why RSS was "ousted"
-- now that Chis Cerf has left the commissioner's position, RSS no
longer as an "ally".
Before Chris Cerf became commissioner he affiliated with RSS. He left, but he still has many "friends" at RSS.
Who
is going to delve into the history of this charter school? It would
make for a very interesting expose on the politics of the charter school
movement here in NJ over the past 10 years.
And let us not forget --- that is OUR money that has been going to a failing for-profit enterprise.
It is a disservice to the children and families of Plainfield and to the taxpayers of NJ that CJACS is still open.
