Some
thoughts about Coronavirus.
It is not the only Covid virus that causes human
infections or the only one that has been of serious epidemic importance.
Excluding
two known corona viruses that caused the common cold but are not critical although
highly contagious, there was the SARS pandemic between Aug 2002 and July 2003
with the last known case in 2004 and the MERS pandemic of 2012.
Both had higher
fatality rates than Covid-19 but the number of cases were far smaller and neither
were as contagious.
It is
believed that 80 to 95 percent of the world’s population will become infected before Covid-19's course is run, but less than 1$ will be fatal; still big numbers. The vast majority
will have no or only mild symptoms.
