If
democracy is to survive us, all must exercise our role as citizens and make sure
a new authoritarian leadership does not replace the past one. American Democracy demands at least two substantial
parties, occasionally an effective third party, but not the multiple splinter
groups common in Europe which often prevent a strong government.
