NOT A RANT

Anonymous, no matter what you may in your blind bigotry say so, this is not a “RANT”.  Be advised that my race and/or religious beliefs may not be the same as yours and I  am not a Trump supporter I am basically a centralist Republican  who changed registration to that of a Democrat since that is the only way I could have my  voice as a citizen in local politics.  Both Democrats and Republicans are more concerned with their own agendas and public appearance/image than with the nation’s welfare.

Although I am living in an as closed as I can make it situation with one live in caretaker and one periodical outside dedicated knowledge errant person who takes recommended precautions going to the market or the drug store or to make a bank deposit.
I  limit the frequency of such trips for her protection as well as mine.

My age and multiple medical problems make the likelihood that I will fatally acquire Covid-19 is almost 99+%. I resent the opportunity to  be treatment denied since my life expectancy is at least 5 years.

On the other hand there are still too many self-centered individuals who disregard all recommendations or local directives as nonsense.

Until we have the equivalent of a nationwide lock down and travel restrictions we will have that perhaps 200000 deaths. If 4/4 NYC statistics are correct that will equal 96000 nationwide-that is still too many.

One would think that even if we were in denial as recent as late February our leadership would have learned a lesson from Italy or Spain.

Even though a single negative test does not mean one is Covid-19 free and not contagious that person may become so in three or more days. That and to find the silent carriers is why unlimited testing is a necessity. Thousands of deaths can be prevented.

Above all don't without information with the idea of keeping someone from worrying if they should know. At the same time it is not advisable  to burden an otherwise fragile person who is not dependent on that information. Trust and honesty are major keys in our survival..

If you are infected try to cope at home and unless you are increasingly weaker or having difficulty breathing perhaps needing skilled care or ventilation stay out of the hospital.

Anonymous , I will no longer give you the opportunty to express your rants on my blog. This not a violation of the 1st Amendment since my blog is not a public vehicle as the newspapers or TV are but a private expression of thoughts. You are welcomed to do the same but then you may have to identify yourself.

I am eminently confident that you have forgotten more about this subject than this nitwit has ever known or will ever know. You put yourself out there, including your name, and it is reasonable to expect some people to disagree with your opinion from time-to-time, as I have. It is not acceptable to disrespect a man who has deservedly earned your esteemed position in life. Everyone who reads your blog should be honored to have the opportunity to interact with a living piece of history and the associated accumulated knowledge.

  3. Doc The Coronavirus is itself on the precipice of becoming a victim. The economic spinoff will be touted by our Administration as the principal cause of the impending Draconian property tax increase. The financial shortfall would have occurred absent the virus, although it will now be exacerbated by the consequences of the virus. We have observed number of disturbing events. The consolidation of authority through the elimination of the office of City Manager. The rotation of people trough the newly created office of Financial Manager. These are the people who are negotiating the PILOT deals? Arresting control of the Merchant's Association (Government can do it better!). We shake our heads when His Honor, facing financing an obvious financial catastrophe takes himself and 6 cronies with their spouses on a junket to Hawaii tapping the City coffers for something in excess of $30,000. His Honor is receiving remuneration from 3 government agencies. He has in addition to secretary a personal assistant. He has doubled his mayoral salary to 70 K. He has a car, phone and fuel, perks historically unprecedented. He is running a Consulting business (I would like to see the client list). The announcement of very PILOT Agreement is accompanied by a statement of some remarkable sum of money that the City will receive over the next 30 years. I doubt that there is single Council Member who has read, and if he has read, understands the financial details of any of the PILOT Agreements. I doubt that any of the Council has taken the initiative to compare the Administration's projected income steam form these projects with reality? With the clear knowledge that the City is broke our representative wizards pass resolution committing to more DEBT through a Bond issue for the Pedestrian Mall. Every year we read of some disgruntled employee being awarded a huge settlement as a consequence of alleged mismanagement in some form. This Administration has treated the City coffers like a honey pot into which they relentlessly dip their fingers and lick off the sweet residue. The first step toward reconciliation would be for the Hawaii 6 to refund the City for their expenses and the Mayor to voluntarily reduce his salary to the paltry previous 35 K. Tax and spend leads to a bad end. Bill Kruse
